SELF-DISCOVERY: EMBRACING THE ME GOD DESIGNED WITH JOY & BOLDNESS

Self-discovery is the necessary first step to us BECOMING who God created us to be.
Self-discovery is about identifying the worldly ideals and practices that have been an integral part of our lives, dismantling them one by one, and replacing them with ideals and practices that align with and glorify God.
Self-discovery is about replanting— removing ourselves from toxic, hindering, and destructive environments and intentionally placing ourselves in healthy, empowering, and constructive ones.
Self-discovery is about uprooting the bad seeds of stifling traditions, inherited negative mindsets, and past hurts planted within and replacing them with the seeds of hope, chain-breaking thoughts, and divine freedom that can only come from being hearers and doers of God‘s word.
A vital part of Self-Discovery is fully surrendering to God’s Will for our lives. The greater God’s influence in our lives, the weaker the world’s influence becomes. But surrendering to God’s Will begins with getting to know Him. That is how we can better recognize the devil’s schemes and separate truth from lies.
Self-discovery cannot happen without transformation, and it will occur naturally as we spend time with God— in His presence and His Word. But transformation can be scary, because it means we will no longer “fit in” but will stick out like sore thumbs. It means the things we thought were healthy will start to look like the diseases they really are. It means our usual, comfortable hang-outs will start to feel like the toxic environments they really are. It also means we will likely become the target of unjust attacks from people (sometimes even family and close friends) who are too scared to embrace their own transformation and are angry at you for having the audacity to even try.
Ohhhhhh….but the freedom and joy we gain from having the determined, made-up mind to trust God and be fully transformed! That is where the supernatural resides. Where we can operate on a spiritual level. Where we can distinguish the parts of us molded by tradition (the world) from those molded by Spirit. Where we have the courage to choose Spirit over the world.
The line between tradition and God’s Will has become so blurred that many can’t tell the difference. But cultivating an authentic relationship with God will transform our hearts, strengthen our connection to God, and increase our awareness and capacity to recognize and hear God in the midst of this loud and chaotic world. Transformation will make it possible for us to see beyond the physical, beyond what we can actually see, to the spiritual realms where God is at work in every situation of our lives, where we've already won the battle, where we have the blessed assurance that God will make all things (even the bad things) work together for our good.
So, embrace this journey of Self-discovery and expect God to move in a mighty way in our lives!
And never forget…. GOD IS FAITHFUL!
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and the rivers will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, and the flame will not burn you. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, and your Savior.”
Isaiah 43:1-3 CSB
